I’ve had the pleasure and privilege to visit a lot of countries in Southeast Asia and Laos is definitely my favorite. A lot of backpackers overlook Laos in favor of more famous destinations such as Thailand and Vietnam. As a result, Laos is pleasantly quiet and relatively untouristic. And it’s a versatile country as well, from sandy beaches to souring mountains and lush jungle to beautiful cities, Laos truly has something for everyone. Here are my favorite places in Laos that you should definitely visit as soon as possible! … More Places to visit in Laos
The Thakhek loop runs to and from the small town of Thakhek in central Laos and it can be done in 3 or 4 days (or even 2 if you’re in a big hurry). It runs through a variety of landscapes of karst mountains, ricefields, through hills and valleys. The road is lined with caves, waterfalls and other attractions that you can visit. In the past years, the roads have been improved a lot and it has become a staple for tourists traveling through Laos. … More Riding the Thakhek motorbike loop in Laos
Cambodia had been on my travel bucketlist ever since I read ‘First they killed my father’ last year. The conflicting stories I heard from other parents just made me more dedicated to see and experience it for myself. Some people (like me) love Cambodia, other hated it. I think it takes a bit of time to grow on you. And if you rush through and only visit Siem Reap, you won’t get to see the best side of Cambodia. The poor, dirty, still recovering from war, but so so beautiful side. The smiling, loving people who have had to endure so much. The stunning landscapes, from mountains to beaches. The magic that makes Cambodia so cool. After the relative comfort, prosperity and touristicness of Vietnam, Cambodia’s shitty roads, shitty buses and shitty hostels were a breath of fresh air. That rugged, down in the dirt kind of travel that I love. Sure, traveling in Cambodia isn’t always rainbows and butterflies, but it is so worth it. Here are a few things you should know before you go and see it for yourself: … More Things to know before you visit Cambodia

It’s a poor country with a tragic recent past, but still everyone walks around with a smile on their face. Cambodians are some of the nicest people I have ever met. Most tourists blaze through on their way from Thailand to Vietnam, just to tick Angkor Wat off their bucketlist. But there are so many cool and beautiful places in Cambodia worth visiting. These were my favourites: … More Places to visit in Cambodia
Vietnamese food has taken the world by storm. The tasty, flavourful dishes, such as Pho, have become popular all around the globe. Fresh ingredients and herbs, with Chinese and French influence, make Vietnamese cuisine what it is. Each region has its own specialties and versions of staples such as Pho and Bahn My. The food in the north is more similar to Chinese, whereas food in the north has some subtle Thai notes.
Although it hasn’t replaced Thai as my favourite South East Asia cuisine, I thoroughly enjoyed eating my way through Vietnam. Here are some of the dishes you should absolutely try: … More Things to eat in Vietnam
