Things to do in George Town

George Town is one the most popular places in Malaysia, and with good reason! This gorgeous colonial city is a UNESCO Heritage Site, filled with lovely old architecture and striking street art.

1. Street art

George Town is famous for its street art, so make sure you don’t miss it. You can get a map of the street art locations from your hotel or online. You can easily fill a day walking around and looking at the cool murals.

2. Shop

Save your money until you get to George Town to buy your souvenirs. Stroll down Armenian Street to find cute little shops, Little India and at the end of Chulia for clothing and trinkets.

3. Temples

Make sure you visit the giant Chinese Buddhist temple at the edge of George Town. It is a marvel to behold. Temple lovers will find plenty of Hindu temples and Mosques in town as well.

4. Eat

George Town is a great place for food lovers. Enjoy spicy and delicious Indian food in Little India, scrumptious noodles in China Town and street food at Chulia street.

5. Party

After a day filled with activities, prepare for a long night as well. George Town nightlife has something for everyone and there is no lack of backpackers looking to live it up. Enjoy laid-back drinks and music in the bars along Lebuh Chulia. Meet other tourists at Tipsy Tiger Party Hostel and follow them to another bar at closing. Or dance the night away at Mayhem.
