If you find yourself in Malaysia, make sure you visit Malakka. This small colonial city lies about 2 hours from Kuala Lumpur and is perfect for a 2-3 day visit.
Shop and eat at the Jonker Walking Street
Try to plan your visit on a weekend, so you get to attend the Jonker Walking Street. This night market spans the whole length of Jonker Street and has everything you could want: food, souvenirs and even open-air karaoke!
Visit some houses of worship
Malakka has a very diverse population. You can spend a full day hopping between Chinese temples, Hindu temples, Christian churches and Mosques. Definitely make your way to the gorgeous new Melaka Straits Mosque
Dive into the colonial history
Melakka has been occupied by the Portuguese, Dutch and British, which is still clearly visible in the old town center. Walk around and take in the colonial architecture, like Dutch Square, Christ church, and all the old little streets, filled with hipster hostels, cafes, and shops.
Eat all the delicious foods
Gorge yourself on street food at the night market and enjoy amazing traditional Pakistani tandoori chicken en naan at Pak Putra.
Party the night away
Malakka is a great place to relax and unwind, but also offers a fun nightlife. Check out the bars along the boulevard and Jonkers to enjoy a beer and music or check out the nightclubs for a night of dancing with the locals.
